Mold and water rentention(?)

Bought this model from Home Depot 5/26/2026 and it is growing/blowing mold when less than 3 months old.... I've been smelling something for a couple weeks and finally found the source of the smell to be somewhere beyond the vents (unit turned off) and inside.... I've cleaned the filter/screen every 2-3 weeks, and this has been installed tipped slightly per the installation instructions and I have been hearing the fan sound like it's partially submerged in water, with this sound having been there since less than 2 days old (no rain between installation and when the sound became obvious). Hoping GE does something about this because by now everywhere the air being blown out of the air conditioner is reaching, now has mold developing. Over the course of the summer I have even opened the window and tipped the window AC unit to drain any possible water that may not be draining with the slight tilt, but nothing drains out when tipping the back (outside) of the unit downwards to drain... I don't even hear any water moving around inside..... In my 46 years having had several (and still have -I would have used my old ac unit but the fins are bent) I have never had these issues (fan spinning in water sound and mold smell being emitted) from any other window ac unit

Worked great for about a month, then it started to freeze up and when I would turn it to the fan setting for about 5 minutes it would shot out ice chunks. When I would get home from work it would be 85°-90° in my room with the temp set at 78. At night I would set it to 70° and when I woke up it would still be 78°-80° in the room. For $450 it was definitely not worth the money.

We have a family sesled in back porch that gets too hot in the summer. Our porch holds 15 people comfortably and is adjacent to our kitchen. Until we bought this GE air conditioner, we couldn't use this room because the temperatures reached highs of 95. After installing thus AC, we have our sun room back for entertaining guests! All the hardware was provided with easy instructions and was simple to install. I love the quiet mode so it's not loud, plus it runs with a regular 120 AC outlet that won't drain your house amps and flip a circuit breaker! Finally, I really enjoy the sleep timer. Cools the room it's in and I like that I can set the preferred temperature and it will cycle itself to try to maintain that temp. It's a lot louder than I expected and on top of that it has a whistle to it so much that my wife has to turn it off to use the phone as it's in her office space.

Highly Effective Window Unit

Finally got this window unit installed and although it was not easy, it™€™s not the units fault. Of course the room I wanted to install it in has old window frames from 1950 that make it nearly impossible to fit anything in. But now that it™€™s in, it immediately cooled the entire room down in under 5 minutes. I live in south west Florida where the heat gets unbearable in the summer. I am so glad I will have this for the summer now, I can finally sleep! The noise isn™€™t terrible either, it™€™s like a nice white noise that™€™s soothing. I have to say that is great. Cleaning the filter is super easy to take out. I really love The features. It doesn™€™t make a lot of noise and runs great. Keeps my room super cold. I love the app as you can have a schedule when you want the ac to turn on and off so it™€™s cool when you get home and doesn™€™t raise your power bill with the electric tracking on the app. I love the ac how cold and how efficient it runs and super easy set up. The ac is on the little heavy side. The ac has a lot of wonderful features and you can connect wifi to it. Works great. Definitely cooled our 400 sq ft living room. Seems to not connect to Google Home. It did once, was great, then tried to add a GE dehumidifier and that broke the connection to Google Had a slight squeak on install due to motor housing rubbing on styrofoam but it went away in a few days

Remarkable addition to my son™€™s room. His room was always the warmest in the house and this window air conditioning unit has made his room so much cooler and comfortable for him to sleep and play his games. Very happy with this unit so far. It is a little noisy even on the lowest setting but we can over look the noise and learn to compensate. The WiFi option and ease of use with the app is also a valuable feature of this unit.
